Connecting the WiMax BM625 CPE to a Wifi Router
The WiMax CPE, BM625 (customer premise equipment) is provided by Globe for the 1Mbps wireless broadband plan. They provide a BM325, I think for the lower speed plan. Basic features are practically the same like the LAN Ports. This is just like the modem most DSL providers install but is more aptly called a CPE. the figure above shows how it looks and when installed, the other antenna is replaced by an aerial antenna to ensure that your system gets a good signal from the globe source which would likely be your nearest cell site. Like any other microwave device, a good signal is ensured when there are no obstructions and that the aerial antenna is on line of sight with the cell site.
The CPE has four (4) pan ports at the back and an input jack for the power source. Installation to your PC is straightforward by simply plugging the patch cord - provided in the CPE package to the PC Ethernet / LAN port via the RJ45 connector jack. Additional PC's can just plug directly to any of the spare or vacant LAN ports of the CPE.
The WiMax CPE runs on IEEE wireless standard 802.16 thus this is different from the usual WiFi normally installed on most laptops. The wireless netwrok on most laptops run on IEEE 802.11 b or g. Your laptop will not connect directly to the WiMax CPE to get internet access it would still have to access the network via a wireless router or access point. Very soon, WiMax shall be an option if not the standard for most mobile devices - laptops, smartphones, etc. Intel will soon roll out their Centrino laptop processor - Wimax enabled already.
WiMAX has the potential to do to broadband Internet access what cell phones have done to phone access. In the same way that many people have given up their "land lines" in favor of cell phones, WiMAX could replace cable and DSL services, providing universal Internet access just about anywhere you go. WiMAX will also be as painless as WiFi -- turning your computer on will automatically connect you to the closest available WiMAX antenna.
What if I want to run a WiFi network in my house?
If you have a wifi router and you want to have wireless access to your system, this is fairly easy to do. You simply need to configure the router to be an access point. Then, connect the CPE to the router via another patch cord BUT on the LAN port and not on the WAN port of the router. The WAN port of the router is where the DSL modem is connected.Most routers have 5 ports at the back, 1 WAN port - where the DSL modem is patched or connected and 4 more LAN ports for extra wired access normally provided by a HUB.
To reconfigure the router to be an access point (AP), you just have to connect to the router by putting the IP address to your browser, normally 192.168.1.1 for most. Mine uses 192.168.1.254. Enter the user name and password once access to the router configuration is achieved. Some routers default this to user 'admin' and password 'admin'. Check the documentation provided with your router. The most important tweak here is just to disable DHCP on your router as this will now be handled by the CPE.
My initial tries to connect my router to the CPE was with DHCP enabled or as server on the router. I was able to get internet access but this will sometimes conflict and simply drop the wifi connection. I changed the IP address of my router to 192.168.1.254, it used to be 192.168.1.1 - this is the same IP address of the CPE so i had to change it as I can not access the router when they both have the same IP address with the CPE. This is just to avoid conflict.
Rest of the router configuration was practically the same when I was using this on the DSL powered connection. You can take this time to also protect your connection using WEP, WPA or WPA2 or whatever security depending on your preference.

It might be that your router has a different IP add. The IP add of the CPE is also 192.168.1.1 so if you have wireless connection established with the router, disconnect it first from the CPE. If you can not get to the configuration page of your router via browser, try a different address - mine was reconfigure after for 192.168.1.254 - or better check the manual that came with the router, it might have a different IP add. I toyed around with my router with the CPE disconnected since they have the same IP, initially. Tell me if this helps. Good luck.
my problem is that i cant login as admin.. but i can login as user typing this user/password: user/user.
how about a Cable/Dsl rounter?is it posible? i have this syslink BEFSR41..
In that case, and if you have the docs with you, you can do a hard reset, I believe the router will go to the default values. You may now log in as admin and change the configs. One question, is your router doing well, or were you using it with your old provider - with no problems? If so then you can try to reconnect that and see if it does. Try to open a dos window and type "ipconfig /all" after the prompt. It should give you the ip add and the gateway. The idea of making the router an access point will make the CPE your router instead. The wi-fi router will only be an access to get to the CPE. You can also try to configure the wifi router with a wired connection initially after a hard rest. I also found some snippets .
I recently bought a befsr41 v4.3 to hook my xbox 360 and wii up to the internet.I followed the setup cd exactely and when it got to step 9 i think it was i kept getting errors couldnt find router.I went on the live chat and did all i was told to do:1. Connect the PC to the port one of the router then restart it. (This PC should be the one that can get online if directly connected to the modem).
2. Go to your desktop and double click on Internet Explorer (Located on the Start Menu in Windows XP).
3. When "Internet Explorer" opens type http://192.168.1.1 into the "Address" bar and click on Go.
4. The log-in window will appear.
5. Skip user name and type admin (admin is the default password) as the password, and click OK.

AFAIK, Globe dont give admin password to their WiMax, mine is the BM622... i call it the "Blender" i managed to successfully configure it but after i unplugged the cable so i can transfer it to a place where the signal is strong... i can't connect to it anymore... i didn't change anything on my router, my router is Wireless-N MIMO AP Router from CD-R King...
Hi jan, yes i have tried hack my CPE so I could experiment on port forwarding, Globe is on traffic shaping so downloads are not that fast - VOIP is great tho.No avail on the hacking unless you can trick the guys from Huawei or Globe to give you that. I used my wifi router configured as access point instead and connected this to the CPE for my laptop access. Your router may be dead also.

That's a great idea! I read a post of someone who actually did that in the Pinoy DSL forum... Another tricked the Chinese Support from Huawei - I think that can be generated from the serial number..Will try that too. Sadly most anti virus programs see that as a Trojan...Good Luck.

@Jaycy - sometime there will be conflicts as most router would have been configured to 191.168.1.1 - I just made mine 192.168.1.254 to avoid that. Then configured it as access point (DNS - disabled). So the CPE acts as router for my desktops. The laptop via wi-fi router will simply connect to the CPE via access point and the CPE has to do the routing. I can not tweak my CPE - I do not have the password for that.
Thanks for the info on the reset. I have plans of discontinuing the service with globe. I am still part of the promo period installed systems for the money back guarantee. Signals have not been very good - you drop in the middle of processing - and that has been fatal to my website management and has caused me a lot of trouble with my databases.
@nikki Hi Nikki - got that sometime before as well - took me hours to get rid of. I am using avast also but have not encountered the same again. Just stay away from the crack, and cheat coded sites - they seem to have a way of injecting malicious codes. My kid loves to do that for his games too. His latest was a bot for the Pet application of Facebook. Thanks for the comments.

@6o9 - yes. But to really get a good signal - you need to be close to a BTS or cellsite. Connect both antennas for the CPE, the signal indicator will give you an idea if there is one nearby and if the service is available in that area. It has not yet been launched nationwide - selected areas only.Check with the globe site if available in areas - assuming you want to test this farther than your village - say the province.. 3-4 bars may be enough - full bar signal is desired.
@ marlon... medyo sakit nga ng ulo yung globe. selective browsing pa. kasi naka NAT pc ko. i used windows 2000 advance server. public and private. walang stable na dns talaga. mag tataka ka kasi na ping mo yahoo.com -t. reply. meron din messenger. iba kasi port ng messenger. sa tingin ko pag loaded na sila block nila port 80 para sa internet. ? ginamit ko din use default gateway para sa DNS ko then found working....problem naman talaga ng globe sa tingin ko.. DNS nila... 2nd na conflict sa hardware na gamit natin...

i thought it's just only for my area has a problem of globe connection. im at Cagayan de oro, and from the start of my subscription, i dont see 50kbp/s download rate yet on globe, downloading mp3 it took for 30-40 minutes per song. i gonna need to go internet cafe just to download it.
it seems the globe wants to compete some internet provider, whereas, globe is not capable yet.

@sphinx - the service has degraded substantially for uploads in my side. Downloads have been doing well - only of course in connected mode. I have daily losses in signal lately. Smart will roll out their system very soon, another company, Liberty Telecoms, is currently working on their system.
@spartan - I don't think there is one yet unless the system will permit you - from the inside I mean. I heard globe tatoo can be. That system - via GPRS and 3G is more prone to hacking. Wimax is a different system.

Connected naman ako sa internet and my signal indicator always at 100%.
Na experience ko kse mas mataas ang upload speed ko sa actual download speed. DL- 200 - 300 kbps / UL - 700 - 800 kbps. Ano kaya ang pde kung gawin d2?

Open the DHCP function,
will not affect the wimax modem,
because the bm622 there is only one lan port. Only the wlan router external lan hub or other functions can be extended until
WIMAX MODEM can be construed as your home xdsl access terminal,

hello guys. ganito lang yan if you dont have the password, you could push the reset button in the side of the device tapos go to the device User Interface tapos type in user for username and user for password. you need not worry baka mawala yung connection sa internet because it would automatically connect itself sa globe tower. ^.^ . I tried it na kc.

Hello Leo. Thanks for the advise on antenna position and replacement. Using the same antenna, the initial service by Globe was very fast and stable. Getting back this connection quality is what I want. I observed the connect frequency is fixed to one, although there are several connect frequencies listed in the modem. Changing the fixed connect frequency disconnects the BM625 from the network. Do you think, the getting the right connect frequency is the solution to the problem of frequent disconnects in addition to slow download speed?

hello plano ko sana mag globe wimax pero sabi ng customer service rep nila hindi daw compatible sa 3rd party wireless router yung wimax sinabi ko sa kanya ung model ng router ko linksys wrt54g2 so conflict nga kung 192.168.1.1 pero ung port nya 5 Ung 4 sa Lan ung isa sa internet. pwede kaya ito kasi posibe namang maiba ung ip ng linksys router ko..
you can use your router kaya lang bridge mode lang meaning u can only 1 pc at d sya pwede sa wifi
Sorry guys but all that, you cant just crack that thing, cuz it has a certificate, they use certificate now, even though you already through the username and password thing, you have to configure the certificate, and the MAC address of your wimax is registered to Globe, so you cant just hack that!! sorry for info

simply lang yan mga tol, ang modem ng wimax router then yan, kaya kung gagamit kayo ng another router 2 option, pwde connect mo sa WAN, pwde gawin mo AP. OPTION 1 change nyo ip address ex. 10.10.20.2 then obtain lang lahat ng ip,subnet,gateway. then e set mo wireless. option 2 obtain then lahat then disable DHCP then set wireless. yon lang tapos.

I recently got a Globe Wimax connection, and I've been quite happy with the speed...only problem is when I try plugging it into a wifi router, then the entire connection dies. The router can't seem to get a gateway connection despite being issued an IP address from Globe. I tried this onto separate routers (Linksys and TP Link) and I still get the same problem.
Am I missing anything in the settings? My router is configured for DHCP.
We do have the same prob Jay.. Maye the Globe sets their connection with that config so that their customers will purchase their wifi router

just set your router IP address to 192.168.0.1, khit enabled both DHCP ng modem and router, it doesnt matter.

To all using routers, try this "First, don't connect your CPE to your router while connect your PC to LAN1 of your router". "Second, configure your router: on the lan settings: change your IP Address to 192.168.3.1; save and then reboot your router". Important: SAVE then RESTART your router to let the changes take effect! Now, to access your router again use "192.168.3.1" at your address bar. Reconnect your CPE to the WAN port of your router. Everything should be fine now. Globe is using 192.168.1.1 as their primary IP to subscribers, thus, while accessing this IP, you're actually accessing the CPE. Just got my WiMax today and actually got the router business the second time around.

Idea ko lng jan is, kaya mataas ping ng globe, dahil sobra konti ng sites nila and sobrang congested na ang signal. kaya sobra din taas ng ping.. Pero i think mali ako hehe bsta sobra hati hati ng signal d2 sa globe, taas ping amf
buti nga kayo may signal pa ng 500kbps +, ako 40-60kbps lang, bwisit talaga ang globe nato

First Goto http://192.168.1.1
username: user
password: user
then goto http://192.168.1.1/html/wimax/security.asp
find user id:
and you will something like this:
2008x2CaFWUMEVsF@globelines.com.ph
copy it without @globelines.com.ph
then back to 192.168.1.1 an logout
now type on username: admin
paste what you copied on password now your in
warning dont do anything to the values!

I will be visiting a relative who has a Globe WiMAX BM625 modem and help him set up his home network.
From what I understand, this modem has four ethernet LAN ports available on the modem itself.
Is it possible I can connect two or more PC's directly to the modem (with no router in between)?
In other words:
PC1 ----------->
PC2 -----------> Globe WiMAX
PC3 -----------> BM625 Modem
PC4 ----------->
Have you tried this, and were you able to access the Internet from two or more PC's, at the same time?
If this is possible, then I do not need to configure a router in between the PC's and modem.

pag dinisable yong DHCP, ano ilalagay na IP add don sa mga units na magkokonek sa router. kelangan ng unique IP add para maidentify ka. Pwede siguro yong 192.168.x.y kasi private IP yon. Pwede siguro nyo gawin, paganahin pa rin ang DHCP pero wag nyo isali yong 192.168.1.1. Pwede nyo lagay 192.168.1.2 to 192.168.1.10 (assuming mga 9 computer nyo sa bahay, pwede nyo adjust yong latter value to 192.168.255.254). Most modern routers manufactured for home use are router, switch, wireless access point and firewall all in one. If you know your router model just google it and search for how to enter the config. if it has wireless capability make sure to do this:
1. Disable SSID broadcasting (to prevent others to see you)
2. Enable WPA2 encryption (to prevent others to see what your sending, makita man nila di nila maiintindihan)
3. Enable MAC Addressing (para yong mga authorized pc with known MAC address can use your network.
4. And also make sure to rename your SSID, wag nyo gamitin mga default values kasi madami na marunong ngayon at madali nila mapasok system mo if you are using default settings.
Note: Nakadesign ang network equipment to use different IP's. Pag gagawa ng internal network make sure to use private IP's. Maganda pag meron ka router/firewall to protect you from outside threats.

i recently received an email as i have not checked my hubs lately inquiring about the bm622, just the same i told my friend to disable dhcp on the router. use it only as an access point and switch. let the cpe handle the routing. i asked her not to use the wan port and it worked for her. try this.

same issue here.. i can connect and browse through other network using wireless router connected on BM622 but unfortunately the speed drops tremendously when accessing facebook for some reason, im using a TPLink wireless router.

Post nyo naman bago pattern ng MAC address ng BM622... Wag lan yan sa inyo... Palitan nyo na lang ang last number sa dulo... Pag gumana yung MAC address na bigay nyo.. Post ko dto pano ichange MAC address nyo... Para ma connect uli kau ng LIBRE. Basta wag lang yung sa inyo.. Tulad nito 002568AC4C8B palitan nyo na lang ng 002568AC4C9B... Yung bago para enjoy tayong lahat...

Last step nayan..... unahin nyo muna yung first step..... hindi nyo mababago yang MAC nyo kung yan lang ang alam nyo.... Buti pa share kau ng MAC na 1mbs or 1g para post namin dito pano makaconnect.... Palala lang po palitan nyo lang ang MAC nyo nang ganito. Tulad nito 002568AC4C8B palitan nyo na lang ng 002568AC4C9B... Yung bago para enjoy tayong lahat... di ba vetet....

hi sir im currently connected ti globe wimax with model BM622i and i wanted to connect it through a router with name and model - TENDA W311R+ and i am having problems configuring the device, the device was able to connect LAN and WAN with the computer but it does not access through the internet, i am following the rules indicated on the manual but the problem is still there, (my router in configured to 192.168.0.1) and once i open my browser the configuration page always pops out and i cant browse to other website (which is obviously indicated that im not connected to the internet) this is a bit of frustrating for someone like me who just follow instructions, your help would be much appreciated sir :)
